About the Knives
My name is David Solivan and I’ve been in IT Archtiecture for 13 years now and still love what I do. I have worked for Fortune 50 companies like Aetna, for IT Consulting companies like U.S. Interactive and Alliance Consulting and I’ve spent 6 and a half years as a Senior Architect Evangelist at Microsoft. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that Architecture done poorly is dangerous! The Monty Python sketch which was the inspiration for my site’s name is a bit extreme in illustrating this, but not as much as you might think. I have seen businesses undergo tremendous turmoil from a single poor design choice in a mission critical system. I have seen projects spin out of control because of poor technology choices and “quicksand” requirements. I have seen companies dramatically overspend because of the FUD spread by mid-level managers with relationships to vendors. Believe me. It’s all dangerous stuff.
This blog focuses on ways to prevent bad architecture. Like many blogs, it will stray from this focus as interesting things come up that I want to talk about. Hey, if you don’t like it, get your own blog!
